BC's McCoy Strikes 'em' Out & The Hill's Wagner Slams the John Carr Seaport Real Estate 2024 baseball Player(s) of the Week!

John Carr Seaport Real Estate 2024 baseball Player(s) of the Week 8 - from Benedictine Military School's Parker McCoy and Richmond Hill High School/s Grant Wagner are the standout pitcher and player of the week.

 

The baseball players of the week are sponsored by John Carr Seaport Real Estate, which recognizes a standout pitcher and player for that week of play. Senior Parker McCoy from Benedictine Military School and sophomore Grant Wagner from Richmond Hill High School won the honor of the John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Players of the Week for their impressive performances on the mound and at the plate. 

 

Week 8

Player of the WEEK - Pitcher

Player: Parker McCoy, senior P/INF

School: Benedictine Military School

Sport: Baseball

Week: April 1, 2024 - April 6, 2024

Highlight: On Friday, April 5, 2024, the senior had 10 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout in a significant region 6-0 win over SE Bulloch. McCoy is undefeated for the Cadets this season with a 2.51 ERA. In 30.1 innings pitched, he has 48 strikeouts. He has signed up to play in North Carolina.

 

Coach's Comments: "Parker McCoy has been instrumental in this team's success throughout the entire season. He has been a tremendous asset on the mound, at the plate, and defensively." Jason Pascual, Head Baseball Coach of Benedictine Military School.

 

 

Player of the WEEK - Player

Player: Grant Wagner, sophomore, INF

School: Richmond Hill High School 

Sport: Baseball

Week: April 1, 2024 - April 6, 2024

Highlight: Grant Wagner, a sophomore at Richmond Hill High School, had an outstanding night against Valdosta High School on April 5, 2024, during the Wildcats' doubleheader sweep. In the first game, Richmond Hill won 10-8, and Grant played a vital role by going 3 for 5, scoring three times, and knocking in two runs.  

 

Grant's performance in the second game of the doubleheader was impressive. In the eighth inning, with two outs and the bases loaded, he hit a Grand Slam Homerun, leading his team, Richmond Hill, to an 8-4 win. He also had two singles and another RBI during the game, adding up to seven RBI on the night for Wagner.

 

Coach's Comments: "Grant has been a valuable piece to our lineup this year. He struggled the week prior, learned from it, and went back to work. It was a big spot in the game and a critical game in region play. I'm proud of him and the whole team for their performance." - Hill Thomas, Head Baseball Coach of Richmond Hill High School.
