How did Memorial Day's Hawkins and Calvary's Wallace win the John Carr Seaport Real Estate Baseball Players of the Week?

John Carr Seaport Real Estate sponsors the PSR baseball players of the week and recognizes a standout pitcher and player for that week of play. Senior Will Hawkins from Memorial Day School and junior CalvaryDay School Ryan Wallace stood out with their performances at the plate and on the mound to win the honor as the John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Players of the Week.

Week 7

Player of the WEEK - Player

Player: Will Hawkins,senior P/INF

School: Memorial Day School

Sport: Baseball

Week: March 25, 2024 - March 30, 2024

 

Highlight: On Friday, March 29, 2024, in Memorial Days School's region doubleheader against First Preparatory Christian Academy, Hawkins went 3-4 with a home run, walked four times, scored four runs, and had two RBIs in a Matador 13-12 win. Hawkins also started on the mound in the first game and recorded the win, pitching five innings. Hawkins' batting average for the season stands at .474.

 

Coach's Comments: "Will had a great performance on Friday, leading us to a region win that deserves to be recognized." Memorial Day School Head Coach Carson Lane.

 

 

Player of the WEEK - Pitcher

Player: Ryan Wallace, Junior P

School: Calvary Day School School

Sport: Baseball

Week: March 25, 2024 - March 30, 2024

 

Highlight: In the opening game of a two-game series against region rival Savannah Christian on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Ryan threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 13 batters in an 8-0 win. Wallace went at the plate 1 - 3, drove in a run, and is batting .346 on the season.  

 

Coach's Comments: "Ryan has been very consistent on the mound for us this season and once again executed at a very high level " - Phillip Lee, Head Coach of Calvary Day School baseball.
