The Forest City Juniors from Forest City Gun Club in Savannah are in Marengo, Ohio. They are going for a fifth consecutive high overall team award in the varsity division at the annual Scholastic Clay Target Program National Championships. Forest City Juniors Program Director Lee Summerford is with the team and is providing daily updates to the Prep Sports Report:

After winning Skeet and Sporting Clays and a 482/500, the Forest City Juniors took the Trap Field with a 6-target lead over the Etowah Valley Mambas in the HOA race.  The Varsity boys brought their hard hats today and got to work.  After four rounds of trap, they only dropped 11 birds total for a 489/500.  That meant the Mambas took the field just down the way and had to have 495/100 just to tie, meaning all 5 of their shooters had to shoot 99s.  Needing a 495, they ended up with a 489, and your Forest City Juniors had avenged their loss at the State Championship and won their Fifth Straight HOA SCTP National Championship!

The Winning squad consisted of Seniors Jackson Ferland 192 and Charlie Moody 192, Juniors Curt Jones 198 and Chase Buerger 196, and Sophomore Mills Hollis 193.

They also finished tied for 2nd for Varsity Trap and are headed back to the field now for a full squad shootoff with a team from Pleasant Valley, Iowa.

Final scores;

Forest City Juniors: Total. 2132

Sporting Clays: Score. 567

Skeet: Score 594

Trap; Score 971

Etowah Valley Mambas: Total 2119

Sporting Clays: Score 560

Skeet: Score 593

Trap: Score 966

Stay tuned for a recap of the SCTP National Championships Day #2 and Day #3 competition.
