For most college athletes, summer is a chance to relax and recharge before the season begins.
For former Benedictine Military School standout and current University of South Florida defensive back Zaquan Bryan, it's an opportunity to come home and give back.
Bryan will host his 4th Annual Football Camp on Saturday, July 18, at Memorial Stadium in Savannah, continuing a tradition that has become about much more than football.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and gives young athletes a chance to learn the game from players who once stood exactly where they are today—dreaming about playing at the next level.
Bryan will be joined by several of his USF Bulls teammates who also call Savannah home, including former Benedictine Military School quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, former Savannah Country Day School wide receiver Kenny Odom, and former Calvary Day School standout defensive tackle Terry Simmons. Together, the four Coastal Empire products represent the best of local football and the opportunities that can come from hard work and dedication.
The story of Bryan and Kromenhoek is one that many local football fans know well. The two have been teammates since their youth football days, continued playing together through middle school, starred together at Benedictine, and now share the field once again at South Florida.
It's a friendship and football journey that has come full circle.

Campers can expect instruction in football fundamentals, position-specific drills, and competition sessions, along with valuable lessons in leadership, teamwork, and what it takes to succeed at the next level.
The cost is $15 without a camp T-shirt and $20 with one. The camp will be held at Memorial Stadium, 101 John J. Scott Drive in Savannah.
Athletes interested in attending can register online at www.zaquanbryan.com.
While football will be the focus on the field, the camp's impact extends beyond the game. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire, helping support families throughout the region.
That's what makes this event special.
It's not just about teaching a better stance, a quicker first step, or a sharper route.
It's about showing young athletes what can happen when hard work meets opportunity.
Bryan and his teammates have reached the Division I level, but they haven't forgotten where their journey started.
On July 18, they'll be back in Savannah, helping the next generation take the first steps toward their own dreams.
And in the 912, that's something worth celebrating.
