Habersham Patriots Weekly Roundup

The Habersham volleyball team went 2-1 for the week. The Lady Patriots improved its overall record to 13-8 and remained 2-0 in region play. The cross-country program was very successful. The middle school Runnin' Patriots took a first place at the Savannah Country Day Middle School Meet. The varsity cross-country team competed in the Savanah Country Day Hornets Invitational on Thursday, September 17, 2020 and placed in the top five of the 12 team meet. 

Volleyball Digs a 2-1 record on the week.

Saturday 09.19.2020

The Habersham School defeated Bethlehem Christian Academy and Glynn Academy in Brunswick on Saturday. In the first match, the Lady Patriots won 25-13, 25-12. Jordan Christy led Habersham with 10 kills and 9 aces, Lucy Kelly with 17 assists, Jenna Kate Welch with 5 kills, and Peyton Burnsed with 9 digs.

In the 2nd match, Habersham won 25-13, 25-21. Christy led the Lady Patriots with 9 kills, Kelly with 9 assists, Makenzie Sparks with 2 aces and 7 digs and Burnsed with 2 aces, 5 assists and 12 digs.

Thursday 09.17.2020

The Habersham School lost to Richmond Hill High School 3-0 by scores of 20-25, 21-25, 18-25. Jordan Christy led Habersham with 22 kills, 3 aces, 4 digs; Lucy Kelly had 20 assists and 8 digs; Jenna Kate Welch had 2 kills and 8 digs and Peyton Burnsed had 1 kill, 2 assists and 14 digs.

Wednesday 09.16.2020

Anna Thompson, 11th Grade, won the Habersham Athlete of the Week! In the three matches this past week, Anna had 13 kills, 10 aces, and 6 blocks. “Anna has been working very hard to improve her quickness on the front row and her timing on the quick approach as well as to improve her defensive positioning when digging. Her hard work has produced good results! She has had several hard-hit kills, timely blocks, and good digs this week. She also continues to be a strong server that we can count on to have some good 4-5 point runs every time up. Her success has led to team success and has been exciting to see,” said Volleyball Coach, Susan Barry. 

Tuesday 09.15.2020

The Habersham School defeated John Paul II 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-13. Jordan Christy led Habersham with 30 kills, Lucy Kelly with 38 assists and 5 aces, Jenna Kate Welch with 6 kills, Anna Thompson with 5 kills, Makenzie Sparks with 3 kills and 10 digs and Peyton Burnsed with 2 kills and 11 digs.

The Runnin' Patriots Cross-Country Results

The Habersham School Cross-Country teams had a great week. The Middle School team competed Wednesday, September 16th, at the Savannah Country Day Middle School Meet, where the boys ran away with first and the girls placed third. Daniel Phillips led the way at 1st, followed by Nicholas Aldrich at 2nd, Walker Brooks at 3rd, Sully McCarthy at 5th, Walker Beaumont at 10th, and Charlie Welch at 11th. Anna Sherrod finished 8th overall for the girls.

The Varsity competed in The Hornet Invitational on Thursday, September 17th at Skidaway State Park. Jack Hogan, a Habersham Senior, led the team, placing 4th overall at the rain-soaked course. The girls were lead by senior Hollace Reed, who put in her best race this season.

The High School and Middle School teams will compete next in the Honey Ridge 5K at Honey Ridge Plantation in Guyton, GA on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
