Habersham School Baseball Splits Two this Weekend

The Habersham School Baseball squad split two games this weekend against John Hancock Academy and Bulloch Academy.
The Patriots (10-4, 4-0 GAPPS 1A-Region 3) outscored their opponents 20-9, used strong pitching in Friday night's game, and made a valent comeback but fell short in Saturday's game at historic Grayson Stadium. Here are recaps provided by the Habersham School.

Habersham vs John Hancock

The Habersham School Patriots took the lead late and defeated John Hancock Academy 11-1 on Friday.  The game was tied at one with Habersham batting in the bottom of the fourth when CJ Barry singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Habersham secured the victory thanks to six runs in the sixth inning.  The Patriots put the pressure on, lead by a double by Thomas Tift.

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth Seth Fowler singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Jack Hogan was credited with the victory for Habersham. The righty went six innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out four.

Brake took the loss for John Hancock Academy allowing five hits and six runs over five innings, striking out seven.

Habersham racked up eight hits.  Tift and Reeder Chambers all had multiple hits for the Patriots.  Chambers and Tift both had two hits to lead the Patriots.  Habersham stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Chambers led the way with three.

Saturday April 10, 2021 at Grayson Stadium

Habersham vs Bulloch Academy

Despite a 6-run deficit in the fourth inning, The Habersham School Patriots almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-8 to Bulloch Academy on Saturday.  Habersham tallied five runs in the failed comeback. Reeder Chambers, Luke Rowland, and  Henderson Hughes all picked up RBIs in the rally.

Bulloch Academy got on the board in the first inning when an error scored one run.

Habersham knotted the game up at eight in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Hughes singled on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.

Bulloch Academy scored five runs in the fourth inning.  The big inning for Bulloch Academy came thanks to walks by Carter Snipes and C Thompson, an error on a ball put in play by Cash Vickery and Jack Conner, and a single by Bryson Scott.

Avery Anderson took the win for Bulloch Academy. The fireballer surrendered five runs on four hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven.  Snipes and Spencer Sharp entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Chambers took the loss for Habersham. The pitcher lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs while striking out three.

Chambers, Thomas Tift, Rowland, Hughes, and Jack Hogan each managed one hit to lead the Patriots.

Bulloch Academy tallied ten hits in the game.  Anderson, Conner, and Scott each racked up multiple hits for Bulloch Academy.  Anderson went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Bulloch Academy in hits.
