High school tennis playoffs: Savannah Country boys, girls are both bound for the Final Four

The road to the Georgia High School State Class 3A tennis championship continues for the Savannah Country Day School tennis teams. The boys and the girls defeated their opponents in the GHSA Elite 8 round.

 

SCDS boy's Hornets (20-2) defeated Hebron Christian first 3-2 Monday in the third round of the Class 3A playoffs, and the Lady Hornets (20-2) followed and won 4-1 also over Hebron Christian. The matches were held at Savannah Country Day School on Monday. 

 

Here are the results of the matches. SCDS boys' team got wins from number one singles Henry Berg (6-1,6-3), number three singles Nico Dascombe (6-1,6-2), and the number two double team Wills Davis/Finn Taylor (6-2, 6-3).

 

On the SCDS girl's side in singles, number one Claudia Birthisel (6-2, 4-6, 7-6) and number two Alysa Young won (6-4, 4-6, 6-2), as well as the two doubles teams. The number one doubles team of Skye Horn and Helen Culver (6-2, 6-7, 6-2) and the number two team of Lilla Brennan and Mary Duval (7-6, 7-6) won.

The Hornet Boy's team will play Lumpkin for their final four matches. The girls will be playing Breman. The date, time, and site have yet to be announced as of this writing.

 

In GHSA Class 4A boys tennis quarterfinal at Bacon Park yesterday. Pace Academy defeated Benedictine (13-6) 0.
