How did Benedictine's Weisel, Islands' Polite Save Fife Therapy & Specialty Sports Soccer Players of the Week Honors?

Ben Weisel and Sydni Polite, the standout goalies from Benedictine Military School and Islands, have been acknowledged by the Prep Sports Report as the Fife Therapy and Specialty Sports Soccer Players of the Week for Week 8. Weisel and Pelote have been impressive, stringing shutout victories for their respective team's victories. Read on to discover more about their remarkable contributions on the pitch in goal.

 

 

FIFE THERAPY BOYS SOCCER Players of the Week

Ben Weisel, Woodville-Benedictine Military School, Goalie, so.: The Cadets (8-4-2) shut out St. Andrew's School 2-0 on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Weisel recorded his seventh shutout of the season and third shutout in a row. According to BC Head Coach Charlie Moore, Weisel has 54 saves, seven shutouts, and has allowed 12 goals all season.

 

Coach's Comment: "Ben inspires confidence in his fellow defenders and team members. He works hard in training to maintain consistency and has recorded shutouts in the last three games." - Benedictine Military School Head Coach Charlie Moore. 

 

SPECIALITY SPORTS GIRLS SOCCER Player of the Week

Sydni Polite, Islands High School, sr.:  Sydni Polite, a senior at Islands High School, showcased her goalkeeping skills on the field. She has demonstrated her talent in the last six games by recording four shutouts. A standout performance was seen during the match against St. Vincents on March 14, when Polite successfully blocked seven out of eight shots on goal, resulting in a 1-1 tie. 

 

Her goalie skills were evident in two matches against Southeast Bulloch. During one game on March 19, she made five saves that contributed to Islands High School's 2-0 win and clinching the region title. Despite her efforts in another encounter with SE Bulloch a week later, on March 26, the Sharks suffered a 1-0 loss in overtime after facing seven shots on goal.

 

Last week, Sydnie committed to Georgia Military College to pursue both her academic and athletic career.

 

Coach's Comment: "Sydni is a solid goalkeeper who is part of an excellent defensive front and has helped record 6 shutouts this season. Her vocal cues help organize the defense, and her quick reflexes have helped our team achieve the region championship." - Islands High School David Miller.
