How did these Soccer Players Score the Fife Therapy and Speciality Sports Soccer Players of the Week?

The Prep Sports Report has announced the first Fife Therapy Boys Soccer and Specialty Sports Girls Soccer Players of the Week. The coaches highlighted these player's performances on the field. Evan Navarez from Islands High School and Edson Escobar from South Effingham scored on the boys' side. On the girls' soccer pitch, Amelia Reci from Savannah Arts Academy showcased her scoring skills, while Holly Kachmar from Islands High School demonstrated versatility and strong defensive play. Let's take a look at their contributions as acknowledged by their coaches.

 

FIFE THERAPY BOYS SOCCER  Players of the Week

Evan Navarez, Islands High School, Jr.: Evan scored two goals against the Sharks' first region opponent, New Hampstead, on February 22, 2024. Then, in a non-region game the following night, he scored Islands' lone goal against the #1 ranked team in 6A, River Ridge, in a Sharks 4-1 loss.

 

Coach's Comment: Evan had an incredible performance in both of our games last week. Evan found the back of the net twice against New Hampstead despite being man-marked and shadowed for the entire match. He then scored against River Ridge (Woodstock), the current #1 ranked team in GHSA 6A. - Justin Brantley

 

Edson Escobar, South Effingham, Sr.: In a rivalry game against Effingham County High School, Escobar scored two goals from outside the 18 and provided two assists; he also leads GHSA 6A in assists and ranks #9 in the nation in assists.

 

Coach's Comment: Edison was dominant from start to finish while playing through a light injury. He led South Effingham to a lead and contributed to all 4 of the first four goals scored in the game. – Davis Paradice

 

SPECIALITY SPORTS GIRLS SOCCER Player of the Week

Amelia Reci, Savannah Arts Academy, Soph.: In back-to-back region games on February 23, 2024, against Tattnall County, Reci scored two goals, and then on February 26, 2024, against Toombs County, she also scored two more goals in Savannah Arts Academy wins.

 

Coach's Comment: Reci has a great skill set in front of the goal and draws a lot of attention from the opposition. Teams have tried to slow her down, but she always finds the back of the net. - Jdhordane Williams

 

 

Holly Kachmar, Islands High School, Soph: In the Lady Sharks' first region game of the season on February 22, 2024, Holly scored three goals, provided one assist, and made four steals against New Hampstead. Then, in a non-region game against Warner Robbins, she scored two goals and made six steals.

 

Coach's Comment: Holly helped control both games, had an excellent defensive performance, and created many offensive chances for Islands. – David Miller
