The Ibis Foundation announced it’s donating a generous grant to Tormenta FC Academy that will greatly reduce registration costs and fees for academy families.

The grant will partially fund 26 academy teams in Georgia and South Carolina and fully fund the first 250 recreation players to register in Savannah. The grant will also cover all 2020 tryout fees for current players.

"Tormenta FC Academy is committed to providing a high-quality, affordable youth soccer program that is accessible to everyone,” TFC Academy Director of Operations Brad Nein said. “The Ibis Foundation has outdone themselves with this donation that will be extremely meaningful to so many of our families. Thank you to the Ibis Foundation for allowing the best youth male and female soccer players in the region to play together wearing the Tormenta crest."

Through sponsors and donations, the Ibis Foundation promotes the sport of soccer throughout South Georgia and the South Carolina Low Country by providing resources and training opportunities to local youth at a significantly lower cost.

With cost being one of the significant barriers to youth soccer participation across the United States, Tormenta FC Academy continues to identify and cultivate the top soccer talent in the region while removing the cost barrier for many families in need of support.

"The impact of this grant goes beyond the obvious financial portion,” Ibis Foundation Executive Director Mike Panter said. “To offer a program that alleviates that barrier and truly makes it about identifying the talent in our region, that is priceless. Our board is grateful for being able to provide our academy with this opportunity and look forward to growing this program and soccer in the Low Country region."

In 2019, TFC Academy experienced success with its pilot grant program, which fully funded three academy teams. This year, the grant will impact even more members across the club.
