Memorial Day Girls Storm to Final Four; GIAA Boys Battle On Today, GHSA State Begins

In the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA), the Memorial Day girls have advanced to the state semifinals with a statement win over Crisp Academy, 76 -34. While St. Andrew’s girls saw their season end against Frederica Academy. 

Meanwhile, both the Memorial Day boys and St. Andrew’s boys are still alive in the GIAA state playoffs, playing for a chance to keep their seasons alive.

No region championship trophies were won yesterday, but every local Georgia High School Association (GHSA) team has already punched its ticket to the postseason, and now the postseason begins. 

The GHSA state playoffs tip off Tuesday, February 24, for the girls, and Wednesday, February 25, for the boys, with first-round times still to be announced, and the Class 3A, A Division I, and Private brackets expected later this weekend. 

Bethesda Academy, the lone South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) team from Savannah, Georgia, received a bye till February 24 in the state quarterfinals. 

Here’s a look at the final scores, today’s schedule, and the first-round GHSA state playoff matchups involving local teams.

GHSA Classes 3A, A Division I, and Private playoff brackets have not yet been released as the state completes its Post Season Ranking Formula (PSRF) seeding process. Once those brackets are announced, the matchups and schedule will be added above.
