Performance Initiatives Gym Weightlifters win 2023 USA Weightlifting individual awards, national & team titles.

Colorado Springs, CO - Performance Initiatives (PI) Gym weightlifters from Savannah, Georgia, brought home 15 medals, broke 12 Personal Records, claimed three individual national champion titles, and three youth national champion team awards. All this happened at the 2023 USA Weightlifting National Championships in Colorado Springs, CO, from June 24-July 2, 2023.

 

PI's 17U Youth Men shined, bringing home 3 Youth Men's Team awards while lifting personal records and winning titles!

 

New to the national stage, Christopher Walker (age 10/73 kilograms) snatched a personal record of 32kg in the Clean and jerked 40kg, totaling 72kg for a gold sweep and his first National Champion title.

Corey Robinson (16-17/102kg) swept GOLD and his 3rd National Championship title as he lifted personal records (PR) of 130kg in snatch, clean, and jerked 160kg for a 15kg pr total of 290kg.

Also, first time on the national stage: Ethan Walker(12/+73kg) snatched 40kg(11th), clean and jerked 45kg(11th), totaling 85kg(15th) and Zachariah Hendrix(14-15yo/55kg) snatching a personal record 53kg (7th), clean and jerking 70kg(7th), totaling a personal record of123kg(7th)

 

Ahmad Minor (15yo/+89kg) returned to the national stage snatching 67kg(8th), clean & jerking a PR of 95kg(6th), totaling a PR 162kg(7th)

 

PI's Under 23yr Champions earning podium at Nationals Week are:

 

Nia Walker (U23/87kg) won another National Championship Title. Nia won the gold medal in the snatched 87kg, Clean and Jerked 102kg a silver medal, totaling 187kg for the overall gold medal.

 

Na'Erykah Goodwin (U23/87kg) raised the bar across the scoreboard- lifting 6 for 6 with a PR and a second place in the snatch of 80kg, and a gold medal in the clean and jerk 103kg for a PR total of 183 kilograms which placed her second overall.

Tayon Vereen (+109kg) earned a podium in the senior division: snatching the bronze medal with 165kg clean and a silver medal for his jerk lift of 210kg, for an overall PR total of 375kg for second overall.
