The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Flag Football Elite Eight round took shape for Savannah area teams last night. The first two rounds of the GHSA Flag Football state championship playoffs are in the books, with strong results and teams being eliminated. As the cold weather settled, teams punched their tickets to the Elite Eight, and five schools will host pivotal games next week to try and reach the semi-finals. The quarterfinals will be played on Monday, December 9, 2024.

South Effingham shut out both Hiram and SW DeKalb to claim their spot in Division 3's Elite Eight, where they'll face Pace Academy on Monday on the road. In Division 2, Jenkins, New Hampstead, and Calvary Day showed out with big wins to secure their places in the next round. Jenkins will host an Elite Eight clash (opponent TBA), New Hampstead will host Evans, and Calvary Day will be the road warriors again, headed to North Georgia and North Oconee. In Division 1, Southeast Bulloch and Long Co. continue their strong season and will host matchups in the Elite Eight round.

Though Richmond Hill, Effingham, Groves, St. Vincent's, Woodville-Tompkins, and Savannah High saw their playoff run end in close matchups, the remaining teams from the Savannah area are ready to chase the "SHIP" and bring it back to the "912".
