Savannah’s own Bear Dollander, a junior golfer at Benedictine Military School,
has made his college choice. The standout left-hander prep golfer is rolling with the Tide after committing to play golf at the University of Alabama, a decision he announced on social media this past weekend.
Building on his local achievements, Dollander is one of the top junior golfers in Georgia and has been rising fast on the national level. He won the 2025 GHSA state championship with scores of 66 and 68, finishing 10-under par. He also has titles from the Cadet Classic, Johnny Paulk Invitational, Grainger Classic, and the Georgia/South Carolina Cup.
Nationally, Bear ranks among the top 1–2 percent of all junior golfers according to Rolex AJGA rankings. He is also ranked roughly in the top 15–20 percent of amateur golfers in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), based on published amateur ranking lists. He also proved himself in the 2025 Georgia Open, shooting a 68 (-3) in the first round against top amateurs and pros and placing third.
BC head golf coach Kevin Halligan said he couldn’t be happier for his standout player and what the commitment means for the program.
“So proud for Bear and his family. Super young man with unbelievable talent and work ethic. Alabama is getting a future star. And Bear is well deserving of this opportunity. Happy for our program as we’re seeing golfers getting opportunities at all collegiate levels to continue their careers and achieve their goals.”
It’s no surprise, given these accomplishments, that Dollander—known for his smooth lefty swing and calm focus—caught the eye of college programs across the country before choosing Alabama.
Now, the Cadet standout is heading to Tuscaloosa — trading Benedictine maroon for Alabama crimson — and his golf journey is just getting rolling, with new opportunities ahead at the next level. Roll Tide!
