Connor Daniel shoots it straight. The Savannah Christian 15-year-old went to San Antonio, Texas at the end of October to compete in the sub-junior category of the 2022 National Sporting Clays Championship (NSCC). He won the sub-junior HOA (high overall) title, shooting 60-68-69-72–269 (out of a possible 300) while finishing 12 points ahead of the second place finisher, Lane Picklo (257).
In 2021, Daniel won the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) Western Regional Sub-Junior Championship and the GIAA general sporting clays championship as a member of the SCPS shooting squad.
This year alone, Daniel has claimed sub-junior championships at the following events: Georgia State, World English, North Central Regional, North East Regional and the South East Regional. Those titles, combined with his recent national championship at the NSCC, earned him the 2022 sub-junior champion title for the Championship Tour powered by Winchester.
He is an alternate on the Team USA junior squad as a sub-junior, a rare feat for any shooter but especially so for one like Daniel, who didn’t begin competitive shooting until 2019.
Daniel and the SCPS Raiders Varsity Team are competing at the 2022 GIAA Clay Target State Championships held at the Forest City Gun Club (November 17-19).
