The first Savannah Junior Golf Association tournament, presented by First Tee – Savannah, wrapped up Tuesday at the Richmond Hill Golf Club with some of the top young golfers in the area already making noise.
Fresh off her runner-up finish at the Georgia High School Association Class AA state championships, Maya Lilja-Vasquez stayed hot on the course. Lilja-Vasquez fired a 74 in the second round to win the girls 14-18 division and continue one of the strongest stretches of golf by a Savannah-area player this spring.

In the boys 14-18 division, Finn Nixon captured the title after shooting 4-over for the tournament, including an impressive 70 in the second round.

The younger division also featured strong play. Boston Lundy won the boys 8-13 age group, while Emma Parker claimed the girls title.

The Savannah Junior Golf Association tournament series, presented by First Tee – Savannah, gives advanced youth golfers a chance to compete, earn ranking points, and prepare for college golf.
First Tee – Savannah continues to grow the game across the Coastal Empire by teaching life skills and core values through golf for players ages 5-18. In addition to tournaments, the organization offers year-round summer girls' golf clinics, camps, and development programs.
The summer SJGA tournament schedule continues with stops at Henderson Golf Club, Crosswinds Golf Club, The Landings, Bacon Park, and Savannah Golf Club.
For many young golfers in the Savannah area, the summer season is just getting started.
