Savannah QB Club Honors Top Players from Memorial Day, St. Andrew's, Country Day, Benedictine

SAVANNAH, Ga. —  The Savannah Quarterback Club is the oldest quarterback club in Georgia and was founded in 1946. The club's mission is to promote football spirit, fellowship, and knowledge among its Savannah community members. The club hosts a weekly meeting starting in September and concludes in January at its annual annual bowl party.

 

During these weekly meetings, the SQC has a long-standing tradition of honoring the top high school football players in Savannah, Georgia. The SQB Player of the Week award is handed off to the top offensive and defensive players who had outstanding games from the previous week. Winners are chosen from local schools, private and public, which are located in Savannah Chatham County. Here are the SQC Week 1 and Week 2 players of the week honored at the SQC first meeting on September 11, 2023.

 

WEEK 1

Offensive Players of the Week:

Week 1: Tyler Kindle QB, Memorial Day

The senior quarterback threw for 446 total yards and four touchdowns on 25 completions out of 29 attempts while rushing for a touchdown in Memorial Day's 59-16 victory over Palmetto Christian 59-16.

Defensive Players of the Week:

Week 1: Joe Frazier LB, St. Andrew's

The sophomore linebacker had 14 total tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble in the Lion's shutout win over Thomas Jefferson 34-0.

WEEK 2

Offensive Players of the Week:

Week 2: Barton Mixon QB, Savannah County Day

The junior quarterback completed 18 of 21 passes for 338 yards and five touchdowns in Savannah Country Day's 52-0 win over Pinewood Christian.

Defensive Players of the Week:

Week 2: Wilkes Albert LB, Benedictine

The senior linebacker had 13 tackles, two sacks, and a pick-six in Benedictine's 42-9 win over Julius Chambers High School in North Carolina.
