Savannah's Hood finishes second at US Kids Golf World Championship

Savannah's Rivers Hood carded a score of 1-under par 35 in the third round of the US Kids Golf World Championship to charge to a runner up finish in the Boys 8 age division.

Hood posted two birdies and a bogey on the back nine of the Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. and improved from fifth to second in the final round. He finished only two strokes behind Cayssi Dunlop from Sain Savin, France, who posted scores of 37-36-34 to win the Boys 8 championship.

Brantley Lott from Statesboro, Ga., earned a fifth place finish in Boys 8 with a score of 2-under par 34 in the third round.

In the Boys 7 age group being played on the front nine of the Mid Pines course, Richmond Hill's Lou Kivett carded a score of even par 36 to storm 20 spots up the leaderboard and finish T23 finish.

Each year the U.S. Kids Golf World Championships welcomes golfers ages 5-12 to championship courses in the Pinehurst area for the world's largest junior golf tournament, providing a stage for golf’s next generation of stars to shine.
