Benedictine graduate and University of North Georgia golfer Hughes Threlkeld posted a 6-under par 66 in the final round of the Hurricane Invitational played at Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Ga., October 16-18, propelling the Nighthawks to a third place finish in the tournament.

After recording top-two finishes in their first three tournaments during the fall, including wins at the Bearcat Fall Kickoff and Cateechee Fall Invitational, the University of North Georgia was ranked first in the Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll of 2023-24. The two first-place finishes and one second-place finish began UNG's fall campaign as the Nighthawks continue to build one of the nation's best men's golf programs after finishing last season ranked third in NCAA Division II.

The 6-under par 66 was Threlkeld's lowest round for the University of North Georgia and lowered his 2023-24 stroke average to 71.67 in four tournaments.
