Savannah's Braden Schnaible carded a first round score of 6-under par 65 to lead the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour Sea Palms Junior Classic being played June 2-3 at Sea Palms Resort on St. Simon's Island.
After playing the first nine holes in 1-under par, Schnaible scorched the second for five birdies without a bogey to claim a two stroke lead over Mason Pate from Valdosta, Ga. Only three strokes behind in a tie for third is Savannah's Chad Chadwell, a rising senior at Benedictine Military School who posted a score of 3-under par 68.
Also inside the top 20 were Savannah's Jack Weeks, a rising junior at Benedictine, and Savannah's Hamp Threlkeld, a rising senior at Benedictine, at T13 after first round scores of 2-over par 73. Also Savannah's Morris Lane, a rising senior at St. Andrew's School, is T18 after a 3-over par 74.
