SCCPSS Middle School Basketball Championships: Unbeaten Seasons, Tight Battles, and Rising Stars!

Savannah Chatham County Public Schools System (SCCPSS) hosted the Middle school boys and girls basketball championship games in the K8/Charter Division and the Traditional 6-8 Division on Saturday, February 22, 2025,  at Jenkins High School. The results of the SCCPSS championship games are below.

Game 1: Garrison Stays Perfect, Edges Godley Station for Girls’ Title

In a seesaw affair, Garrison pulled away just enough from Godley Station to claim the girls' K8/Charter title 29-24. Zalaiya Moses from Garrison was chosen as her team's outstanding player, while Peyton Giles from Godley Station was selected as her team's outstanding player.

Garrison ended the season with a perfect 9-0 record.  Head Coach Orianne Hyppolyte-Glover leads the Lady Gators.

Godley Station ended the season 7-2, with their only two losses coming at the hands of Garrison.  Head Coach Michelle Lanier leads Godley Station.
 

Game 2: Georgetown Lions Outlast Stallions in Boys’ Championship Thriller

In another tightly contested game, the Georgetown Lions outlasted the Godley Station Stallions to claim the boy's K8/Charter championship 42-35.  Taurion Holloway from Georgetown was named his team's outstanding player, while Daniel Bean was recognized as Godley Station's outstanding player.

 

Georgetown ended the season 10-1.  The Lions were led by coaches Ajmal Gordon, Staff Gordon, and Elizabeth Mann.

 

Godley Station finished with a record of 9-2.  Head Coach Mark Smith leads the stallions. 
 

Game 3: Hubert Avenges Loss, Wins Girls’ Grades 6-8 Title

In the Grades 6-8 Girls Division, Hubert held off a determined STEM squad to avenge their only regular-season loss and win the title 43-38. Deasia Henderson was named the Lady Hornets' outstanding player, while Krysten Eiland was tagged as the Lady Ravens' outstanding player.

 

Hubert finished the season with a 10-1.  The Lady Hornets are led by coaches Kirsten Matthews and William Scott.

 

STEM finished the season with a 9-2 record.  Head Coach Will Buckley and Assistant Winter Frost-Roundtree lead the Lady Ravens.
 

Game 4: Oglethorpe Titans Win Big, Finish Undefeated in Boys’ Championship

The day's finale saw Oglethorpe start fast and never slowed down in a 43-15 victory over the Myers Gators to claim the Grades 6-8 Boys Championship.   Oglethorpe's 3-headed monster of Banai Mells, Malachi Golden-Reedy, and Drayton Manor was recognized as their team's outstanding players.  Cameron Middleton was named the outstanding player for Myers.

Oglethorpe finished the season unbeaten with an 11-0 record.  Head Coach Sandy Shepherd and Edwin Shepherd III lead the Titans.

Myers is led by Head Coach Francis Cave and Assistant J'maun Cutter lead Myers.
