Savannah Christian sophomore Jillian Austin has been named the John Carr Seasport Reality Fast Pitch Softball Player of the Week. Austin's impressive performance on the mound and at the plate helped lead her team to a 7-0 victory over Bryan County.
In the circle, Austin tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out seven batters and allowing just five hits. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
Austin's season statistics are equally impressive. She is batting .469 with three doubles, eight RBIs, and 11 runs scored. In the circle, she holds a 4-4 record with a 4.78 ERA and 31 strikeouts.
"Jillian is one of the most complete players in south Georgia," said Savannah Christian head coach Matt Ogelsby. "She can do it all. She can play anywhere at a high level and is never satisfied. She works really hard every day at her craft and leads by example."
