Memorial Day School senior Jordan Mercer had outstanding years on the court and football field.
He has been a tremendous football player for Memorial Day School for the last four years. I went and watched him play a few times this season and each game I saw he had well over 100 yards rushing.
The first game versus Hilton Head Prep, and I think he had 100 by halftime. Jordan has the uncanny ability to run over you and also leave you with his speed.
Sometimes you can see that in basketball also. I coached him in basketball for the last two seasons and he had two outstanding years. Last year we played Jordan down on junior varsity, and he led the team in scoring with 26 points per game.
He is a good size guard and when he started going downhill, it was very difficult to stop. He's got some skill and can score around the rim.
I think Jordan asked me before every game and practice this year if he be able to play the next game. My answers were always yes, and Jordan was another one of those senior leaders that is very hard to replace because he had so much confidence in himself and teammates during the season.
I don’t know of any of Jordans teammates that dislike him. Most of them absolutely love him. He is going into the military to serve our country. With his passion to do well and build relationships, he should make a great soldier in the future. I will be praying for him.
