St. Vincent's Girls Repeat as Region 3 Champs, Benedictine Boys Dominate

Ludowici, GA - St. Vincent's Academy won the Georgia High School Association Region 3-AAAA girls' cross country championship for the second consecutive year on October 26 at Long County High School.

 

The Saints placed all seven of their runners in the top 20, led by Sophie Roach's third-place finish (22:53.45). Alexis Ghaleb took fourth (23:05.35), Olivia Keating took ninth (24:11.27), Ella Rojas took 12th (24:39.42), Ileana Scorza took 13th (24:44.27), Alexis Spisso took 15th (24:59.56), and Angie Doan took 18th (25:14.60).

 

Evans County, GA - Benedictine Military School's boys' cross country team also won the GHSA Class 4A Region 3-AAAA championship on October 25 at the Evans County Public Fishing Area course, led by John Dodson's course record 16:23.

 

The Cadets swept the first four places in the race, with Dodson winning the individual championship, Asher Herrin (17:25) taking second place, Cole Minnich (17:43) securing third place, and Nikos Hanks (17:48) sealing fourth place. Omar Ali (18:32.50) finished ninth for the fifth time needed to win the region title.

 

Benedictine and St. Vincent's will now advance to the GHSA Class AAAA state championships on Saturday November 4, 2023 at Carrollton High School.
