STEM Academy Sweeps SCCPSS Cross-Country, Sending Runners & Teams to State

The Stem Academy swept the Savannah Chatham County Middle School Cross-Country championship, and SCCPSS announced their representatives for the upcoming Georgia Middle School State XC Championship Meet from last weekend's SCCPSS Cross-Counttry Championship meet on October 7, 2023, at Islands Stadium XC Course. 

 

The boys' top performers include Michael Grabowski from The STEM Academy, securing the first position with a time of 12:34.72, closely followed by Isaac Edris of Coastal Middle School at 12:39.51. The STEM Academy dominated the leaderboard, with six runners among the top ten.

 

The STEM Academy secured the top spot with 19 points in the boys' team standings. Coastal Middle School (2nd place) and Ellis Montessori Academy (3rd place) follow with 46 and 84 points, respectively.

 

On the girls' side, Rubi Marrero Ruiz from Garrison School for the Arts set the pace, securing the first position at 14:52.32. Maya Lilja-Vazquez came in a close second at 14:55.2, and then her teammates, Reece Creeden, McKay Bennett, and Mia Whitmore, rounded out the successive three finishes to finish first as the top girl's team.

 

The STEM Academy girl's cross-country team secured the top spot with 22 points in the girls' team standings. Garrison School for the Arts finished 2nd (50 points), and Coastal Middle School (85 points) followed in third.

 

These talented athletes, the top two boys and girls teams and the top seven from the boys and girls, will compete at the Georgia Middle School State XC Championship on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Bleckley County Elementary in Cochran, GA. Below are the qualifiers for this event.

Spectators are welcome to attend the event for free, but there will be a $10 parking fee.
