The Habersham School Baseball doesn't Shy away from Competition

The Habersham School's baseball program does not shy away from the competition in the Savanah Area. The Patriots play in the Georgia Association of Private & Parochial Schools (GAPPS) and are a perennial playoff team in GAPPS. The Habersham School partakes in contests against Georgia High School Association and Georgia Independent Schools Association schools to fill out their schedule. The Patriots compiled a 2-2 record against some stiff competition, and here are the recaps.

March 27, 2021, vs. Jenkins (GHSA)

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity defeated Jenkins High School 12-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Tyler Tift struck out Kaleb Baker to finish off the game.

Reeder Chambers led The Habersham School Patriots Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. Chambers went 2-for-3 at the plate. Chambers drove in runs on a single in the fifth.

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity got on the board in the first inning. An error scored two runs for The Habersham School Patriots Varsity.

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity notched eight runs in the fifth inning. Luke Rowland, Ed Beck Yannett, Tift, Thayer Hughes, Thomas Tift, and Chambers all drove in runs in the frame.

One bright spot for Jenkins High School was a single by Preston James in the first inning.

Chambers led the Habersham School Patriots Varsity to victory on the pitcher's mound. Chambers allowed two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking zero. Tift threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Patrick Blake took the loss for Jenkins High School. The hurler surrendered eight runs on seven hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five.

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity racked up 11 hits on the day. Tift, Tift, and Chambers each collected multiple hits for The Habersham School Patriots Varsity. Tift led The Habersham School Patriots with three hits in three at-bats. The Patriots stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. CJ Barry led the way with two. The Habersham School Patriots Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Henderson Hughes had six chances in the field, the most on the team.

March 27, 2021, vs. Country Day (GHSA)

The Habersham School Patriots Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 6-1 loss to Savannah Country Day Scds Hornet Varsity on Saturday. Savannah Country Day Scds Hornet Varsity scored on a single by Beamon in the first inning and an error in the second inning.

Savannah Country Day Scds Hornet Varsity evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Beamon singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

Savannah Country Day Scds Hornet Varsity pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second, an error scored one run for Savannah Country Day Scds Hornet Varsity.

Garola earned the win for Savannah Country Day Scds Hornet Varsity. The hurler lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out six.

Henderson Hughes took the loss for The Habersham School Patriots Varsity. The pitcher surrendered three runs on four hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Thomas Tift went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead The Habersham School Patriots Varsity in hits.

Savannah Country Day Scds Hornet Varsity racked up ten hits on the day. Everett and Beamon each collected multiple hits for Savannah Country Day Scds Hornet Varsity.

March 30, 2021, vs. Calvary (GHSA)

Brandon Exley earned the win for Calvary Day Varsity Cavaliers over the Habersham School 7-2. The righty allowed three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out five and walking one. J Paul and Pj Fox entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Thomas Tift took the loss for The Habersham School Patriots Varsity. Tift lasted three and third innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out three.

Tift led The Habersham School Patriots Varsity with two hits in four at-bats.

Calvary Day Varsity Cavaliers tallied eight hits on the day. C Arnold and Will Hampton each had multiple hits for Calvary Day Varsity Cavaliers. Arnold went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Calvary Day Varsity Cavaliers in hits.

March 31, 2021, vs. First Presbyterian Christian Academy (GISA)

Habersham School defeated First Presbyterian Christian Academy 5-3.

Reeder Chambers led The Habersham School with four hits in four at-bats. Chambers had two doubles and had four runs batted in. other patriots who were hot at the plate were Thomas Tift, who went 2-3 with two runs scored, and freshman Thayer Huges went 2 -4. Chambers also picked up the win, throwing five innings, giving up three hits, three unearned runs, walking two, and striking out seven batters.
