St. Andrew's sophomore Gaby Van Brunt competed in the Georgia Independent Schools Association State Swim Meet last weekend and took home three gold medals. Gabby not only won 3 events at the GISA State Swim Meet, but she also set  GISA state records. Those events were the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 23.43, the 100-yard Butterfly at 55.48, and the 100-yard Backstroke in 56.03 seconds.

Just a side note. Gaby has been a GISA all-state swimmer for the past two years. Van Brunt, who swims for the Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team (GCAT) outside of the school swim season, has had a lot of success.

In 2019, Gaby qualified to swim at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials after making a splash in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the 2019 USA Swimming Futures. Gaby finished the event in just over one minute, setting a new Georgia state record. The aforementioned finishing time qualified Gaby for the U.S. Olympic Trials. Van Brunt was the youngest swimmer to qualify.  Gaby did not swim at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials because it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
