On February 1, St. Andrew’s sophomore Jossy Thompson had a big day at the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) state swim meet. She won a gold medal in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:06.65. She also earned two silver medals in the 50-meter freestyle (24.24) and the 100-meter freestyle (58.28). Her times were even better than last year.
Thompson had another excellent season for the Lions this season. Like last year, she was undefeated during the high school regular season. As a freshman, she won three gold medals: the 50-yard freestyle (24.45), the 100-yard butterfly (58.33), and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.15). Furthermore, she was named Savannah Morning News Girls Swimmer of the Year at the Coastal Empire High School Sports Awards.
Thompson is already a top swimmer, and she still has two more years to win more medals and set new records in the GIAA Swim meets. When not swimming for St. Andrew's School, Thompson is a Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team (GCAT) member in Savannah, Georgia.
