Pelote, a 6'8" freshman forward at Catawba College, he had 25 points and 12 rebounds in a 94-90 win over Anderson College. Pelote's game high scoring output helped the Chiefs (6-10) win their second game in a row.
Bernard was captain at Woodville-Tompkins High School. He was named 2A first-team All-State and all-region as a senior. Pelote averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks in his senior year. Bernard scored over 1000 points for his high school career at Woodville. As a sophomore, Bernard was part of the Wolverines team that won a school-record 29 games.
