Candace Kieffer, a freshman at the University of Miami and former Effingham County High School standout student/athlete, received an Atlantic Coast Conference prestigious award. Kieffer was one of 11 University of Miami cross-country team members named to the ACC-All Academic team for 2022. Kieffer is majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. 

Candace participated in the Hurricanes 2022 Cross-country season and the spring 2023 track and field season. She finished with a personal best at the Florida State Invitational on October 7, 2022, at 18:32.7 in cross-country. In the spring track and field season, Kieffer set her personal best in the 1500 meters (1-mile run) with a time of 4:53.05 and placed 5th on April 8, 2023.
