Another former Savannah-area standout is headed to compete for a national championship.
Former Savannah Christian Preparatory School (SCPS) golf standout Mary
Miller is headed to the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf National Championship with the University of Mississippi Rebels (Ole Miss). Miller is a member of the women’s golf team, which made its eighth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Mary, who transferred after her freshman year from Georgia Southern, is now a sophomore at Ole Miss and earned Second-Team All-SEC honors following a strong spring season in one of the toughest conferences in college golf, the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
The Rebels enter the national championship ranked No. 19 in the country after advancing out of the NCAA Louisville Regional earlier this month.
Ole Miss finished tied for fourth at the regional tournament to punch its ticket to Carlsbad, California, where the NCAA National Championship begins Friday, May 22, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
Miller has been one of the top players in the Rebels' lineup this season.
She finished runner-up in stroke play at the SEC Championship and posted a 71.77 scoring average while leading Ole Miss in top-10 finishes during the year.
The Rebels earned a No. 4 regional seed and continue to build one of the most consistent women’s golf programs in the country.
Now, Mary Miller and Ole Miss will try to finish the season competing for a national championship.
Another Savannah athlete… making big things happen on a national stage.
