Two local schools are making moves to maintain their athletic programs by adding experienced head coaches.

Memorial Day School Names Cedrick Brown as Head Boys Basketball Coach

Memorial Day School has announced Cedrick "Coach Ced" Brown as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Coach Brown began coaching as the Program Coordinator for the Homestead Police Department's Police Athletic League.

He later coached at South Dade High School before moving to Savannah in 2009. Since then, Coach Ced has been active in the local sports community, helping establish the Savannah Falcons Youth Sports Organization, where he served as a coach and vice president. He has also coached with the Savannah Tigers and is currently the co-founder and coach of the Savannah Mavericks.

Coach Brown brings years of experience in youth and high school basketball and is expected to bring leadership, discipline, and energy to the Memorial Day program.

Richmond Hill High School Hires Naomi Sullivan as Head Volleyball Coach

Richmond Hill High School has hired Naomi Sullivan as its new Head Volleyball Coach. Sullivan has a strong background in building successful programs and developing talent. Most recently, she served as the Head Coach at Shorter University, leading the team to three straight Gulf South Conference playoff appearances. During her four-year tenure, she helped turn the team around, going from a 2-9 record to a .500 finish.

Before Shorter, Sullivan was an assistant coach at Brewton-Parker College, working with both the men's and women's teams. She also spent time as a volunteer and graduate assistant coach at Georgia Southern University.

Sullivan was a standout collegiate athlete. She played volleyball and softball at Midland College before continuing her volleyball career at Tennessee Temple University. She earned MVP honors and helped lead her team to the national tournament for the first time in school history.

She holds a master's degree in Kinesiology with a coaching emphasis from Georgia Southern and is married to Collin Sullivan. Richmond Hill looks forward to a new chapter of success under her leadership.

With these announcements, Memorial Day School and Richmond Hill High School are excited about their athletic programs. Coach Cedrick Brown will lead boys' basketball, and Coach Naomi Sullivan will head volleyball. Both schools trust these coaches will help their athletes grow on and off the court.
