The Coastal Empire’s high school soccer teams are getting into full swing, and a handful of teams from around Savannah are having huge impacts in this week’s Georgia high school soccer rankings.
The girls from Richmond Hill are 8-0 and ranked No. 4, looking strong as can be. They have also found their way near the top of the state rankings. Calvary Day is making a big move in the private school rankings, and also includes Savannah Arts Academy and Savannah Christian in statewide rankings.
On the boys' side, two local teams have been nearly unstoppable. Islands High School is off to a 10-0 start and ranked No. 2 in Class AAA, while Calvary Day is 6-0 and ranked No. 4 in GHSA Class A-AAA Private.
It’s hard to believe that we are already midway through the regular season. Last week’s action showed that a large number of teams in the Coastal Empire are capable of playing some very high-level soccer, and now it’s time to see if those teams can carry that momentum into region play.
Here is a glance at where local teams land in the latest statewide rankings.
