Who scooped up week 10 John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week? A Shark & A Cadet

The final regular season week of the 2023 high school baseball season saw a Shark and Cadet step up and stand out to earn the week #10 John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week. Benedictine Military School's senior Kaden Tuten is the Pitcher of the Week. At the same time, Islands High School's junior Joey Cardillo is the Player of the Week for Week 10 of the  prep baseball season.

PITCHER of the WEEK

Player: Kaden Tutuen - senior Pitcher/Infielder

School: Benedictine Military School

Sport: Baseball

Week:  April 17 - April 22, 2023

HIGHLIGHT:  Tuten pitched game one, going five innings in a win versus New Hampstead High School on April 17, 2023. Kaden controlled the mound, only allowing one hit, giving up no runs, walking two, and striking out seven. 

 

Note: Kaden was also considered the player of the week from the 3 games vs New Hampstead last week at the plate. Tuten went 5-6 (.833 average) at the plate, with four walks, score twice, and two runs batted in.

 

COACH'S COMMENT: "Kaden performed well in the series to help secure the team's standing in the region before the playoffs." - Benedictine Military School head baseball coach Kevin Farmer. 

 

POSITION PLAYER of the WEEK

Player: Joey Cardillo, junior Pitcher/Infielder

School: Islands High School

Sport: Baseball

Week:  April 17 - April 22, 2023

HIGHLIGHT: In the huge region 3-game series against Burke County, Joey hit .545, going 6 for 11 with a double, one run batted in, and five runs scored. Cardillo also had a .615 OBP for the series. 

 

COACH'S COMMENT: "Joey is our ignition at the top of our order that gets our offense started and he definitely showed that during the Burke County series. Getting on base 8 times out of his 13 at bats. Joey played a huge role in helping us take 2 out of 3 from Burke County to earn the 3rd seed in the region," said Islands High School head baseball coach Brandon Collins.

 

NOTE: Cardillo also helped close out game one on the mound going 2 2/3 innings versus Burke.
