The Grassi Roofing Girls and Coach's Corner Boy's Basketball Week 13 Players of the Week are Destini Gooddine, Calvary Day School, and Shamarrie Hugie, of AE Beach High School.

 

Below is the information for these two players who had impressive numbers on the basketball court to earn the player of the week awards.

 

Grassi Roofing/Prep Sports Report Girl's Basketball Player of the Week

 

This Grassi Roofing/Prep Sports Report Girl's Basketball Player of the Week Award for January 30 to February 4, 2023, goes to Destini Gooddine a sophomore at Calvary Day School.

Player: Destini Gooddine, sophomore guard

School: Calvary Day School

Sport: Girl's Basketball

Week: Jan 30, 2023 - Feb. 4, 2023

 

 

Highlights: Last week versus Groves, Long County, and St. Vincents, Destini had 52 points, 17 rebounds, and ten steals in Calvary's three victories.

 

Coaches Comments: "Destini has been a consistent performer all year and last week she had another excellent week," said Calvary Day School head girl basketball coach Jackie Hamilton.

 

Coach's Corner/Prep Sports Report Boy's Basketball Player of the Week

 

This Coach's Corner/Prep Sports Report Boys' Basketball Player of the Week Award for January 30 to February 4, 2023, goes to Shamarrie Huggie, a senior at AE Beach High School.

Player: Shamarrie Hugie, senior forward

School: AE Beach High School

Sport: Boy's Basketball

Week: Jan 30, 2023 - Feb. 04, 2023

 

Highlights: In 3 games, Shamarrie scored 61 points, 27 rebounds, 14 assists, and 11 steals against Savannah Christian, Calvary, and Liberty County on Jan. 27, 28, and 31, 2023. 

 

Coaches Comments: "Shamarrie has been a tremendous leader for our basketball squad this year. Our current record is a reflection of that. He should be a candidate to win player of the year in the 3-AAA region as well as AAA state player of the year. These last three games show that he can take over a game at anytime.," said AE Beach boy's head coach Simon Heyward.
