BC Cheerleaders cheer a NCA National Championship bid & individual awards at summer camp

The Benedictine Military School cheerleaders 2023-2024 team attended a summer camp hosted by the National Cheerleaders Association at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island June 19-21, 2023. The BC cheerleading team comprises athletes from their sister school St. Vincent Academy. 

The team learned cheers, chants, and dance routines, through daily routines taught by NCA instructors. The BC squad as a team earned two best overall awards for their Overall Band Chant and Overall Cheer with a Stunt. They also received a bid to the NCA National Championships in Dallas, Texas, on January 19-21, 2024.

BC cheerleaders also received individual NCA All-American honors. Rising seniors Avery Evans and Carson Palmer and two freshmen, Natalie Shearouse and Emerson Lane, were named to the NCA All-American Team at the Epworth Camp. What is the All-American Award?   The award goes to cheerleaders who show the strength of spirit, skill, and leadership.

Junior Chloe Cooler received the NCA Individual Leadership Award. This award is awarded to the individual who displays leadership excellence throughout the week in camp.

In addition, Avery Evans won the award for best All-American at the camp and was chosen to join the NCA team. This award goes to the camp's top All-American Team member, and only one is selected per the NCA website.
