The Benedictine Military School golf team advanced all the way to the championship match at the Granger Classic in LaGrange, Ga., on April 13 before falling a powerful Northgate High School team to finish runner.

After finishing third in medal play over 36 holes played at Callway Gardens on April 11-12, Benedictine defeated Gainesville High School and North Paulding High School in match-play matches to advance to the 18-hole championship match against Northgate. In the quarterfinal and semifinal victories, the Cadets were propelled by match-play victories from freshman Bear Dollander, freshman Jack Weeks, sophomore Hamp Threlkeld and senior Clayton Ruchalski.

In the championship match, Northgate prevailed by a score of 3-1. Freshman Bear Dollander was 4-under par through 16 holes in his match, but the match was interrupted when the Vikings earned a third point to secure the overall team victory.

Ruchalski earned BC's only point in the championship match, and Weeks lost 1-down after a chip on the 18th hole narrowly missed going in to halve the match. Threlkeld lost on the 17th hole in a tightly conested match.
