The Benedictine golf team won the Savannah City HIgh School championship for the second straight year, narrowly defeating Savannah Coutnry Day at Bacon Park Golf Course on April 2.
With the win, the Cadets have won five tournaments during the 2024 season and three of the past four City High School championships
In the girls' tournament, Savannah Country Day School's Bryn Sorge and Kate Barber teamed to edge Savannah Christian's Mary Miller and Ava Cottis by one stroke in the nine-hole event. Sorge carded a score of of Even-par 35 to tie Miller for the lowest score, and Sorge was named low medalist in scorecard playoff.
Braden Schnaible, playing for The Habersham School, earned low medalist honors after a round of 1-over par 72, narrowly clipping BC senior Whit Watson by one stroke.
BC finished with a score of 302, including Watson's 2-over 73, senior Clayton Ruchalski's 5-over 76, freshman Jack Weeks' 5-over 76 and sophomore Hamp Threlkeld's 6-over 77. SCDS was only three strokes behind the Cadets, inclduing sophomore Caden Hartley's 3-over 74, William Whitfield's 5-over 76, Charles Morris' 6-over 77 and Dallas Hunter's 7-over 78.
