Benedictine Clay Target Team shoots 1st place in GIAA Qualifier & SCPS Daniel & SCDS Haas HOA 1 & 2

The Benedictine Clay Target team did it again and finished atop the 11-team field at the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) Clay Target qualifying state match on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Forest City Gun Club. Savannah Country Day was the host school. Savannah Christian Prep was second, and Savannah Country Day received third-place honors. 

1st Place - Benedictine Military School Team

Top honors or the High Overall Award (HOA) went to Savanah Christian Prep Connor Daniel (192/200), and edged out the second-place finisher by one target. Savannah Country Day's Owen Haas (191/200) was HOA Runner-up. As the team competition went, the Cadets shot 11 targets better than runner-up SCPS and 25 better than third-place finisher SCDS.

The top five shooters for the Cadets were as follows: junior Charlie Moody 188/200, junior Jackson Ferland 185/200, junior Jake Dyches 183/200, freshman Jack McKenzie 183/200, and freshman Jim Reynolds Morrison 176/200 for a team total of 915/100.  

 

HOA winner Conner Daniel led the Raiders with a score of 192/200, followed by David Butler (182/200), Avery Potts (180/200), Cameron Cason (180/200), and Josh Skalla (170/200). The team total for the Raiders was 904/1000. 

 

In third place was Savannah Country Day. HOA runner-up senior Owen Haas led the Hornets with a 191/200. The following Savannah Country Hornet shooters were Miles Carson (177/200), Grant Hunter (175/200), Dan Bradley (174/200, and Philip Slatinky (174/200). The Hornets team total was 891/1000.

Savannah Country Days middle school team took part in the qualifier. Hornets middle school shooters who stood out were Archer Ritchie with a 144/200 and Owen Washburn with a 127/200. Also, Rookie Middle Schooler Jack Cannon shot his first 25/25 straight on the Trap fields with a 46/50.
