John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week (March 24–29, 2025)
This week's John Carr Seaport Real Estate Prep Sports Report Baseball Players of the Week honors go to three well-deserving performances: Calvary Day's Scottie Budrow for his clutch relief pitching in Las Vegas, Effingham County's Luke Edwards for a lights-out start in a key region win, and the entire Richmond Hill varsity lineup for an explosive offensive week.
Relief Pitcher of the Week – Scottie Budrow (Calvary Day, Senior)
Budrow came up big in Las Vegas, entering a 5-5 tie game and throwing 3.2 no-hit innings, helping Calvary secure a 6-5 win. Though he doesn't pitch every game, his attitude and support for teammates never go unnoticed.
"Scottie had a couple of great outings in Las Vegas for the Cavs. Budrow threw 4.2 innings on the week of no hit baseball. He has been a big piece to the success of our pitching staff and our pitching depth this season," said Calvary Day head coach Phillip Lee.
Starting Pitcher of the Week – Luke Edwards (Effingham County, Senior)
In a 1-0 win over Evans High School that clinched the Sub-Region regular season championship, Edwards was dominant. He threw 6.2 innings, struck out 16, walked 2, and gave up only 3 hits with no runs allowed.
"Luke has been as dominant as anyone in the state this season. His success comes from his dedication and daily commitment to getting better. Every time he's on the mound, we have a chance to win," said Effingham County head coach McCombie.
Team of the Week – Richmond Hill Varsity Baseball
Over the course of three games, 19 different Wildcats stepped up at the plate, combining for 48 runs on 40 hits with a .430 team batting average and .550 on-base percentage. Every player who dressed out contributed to the team's dominant week.
"It was pretty special witnessing what took place last week. Every player dressed out contributed. The guys displayed tons of resiliency throughout the week. This is a tough group and a fun team to watch compete," said Richmond Hill head coach Hill Thomas.
