Joey White, Baseball - Athletes of the Week April 4th - 10th
This week’s SCPS Athlete of the Week is Joey White. Over 2 games, Joey turned in a .571 batting average (4-7), 1 homerun, 4 RBI’s, and 3 runs. Joey has been playing baseball for 12 years and says his goal for this season is to win the state championship. Joey says his favorite part about being a Raider is being able to play the sport he loves every day while also bringing glory to God. When asked what it means to be named AOTW, Joey said, “It means a lot. I’m glad I was able to stand out enough to be the Athlete of the Week even with all the outstanding athletes we have at the school.”
Alex Hoffman, Tennis - Athletes of the Week April 11th - 17th
This week’s SCPS Athlete of the Week is Alex Hoffman. Alex won a decisive match against Country Day for the Raider Tennis team last week that helped propel the Raiders to a Region Championship! Alex has been playing tennis for SCPS since 6th grade and says her favorite thing about being an SCPS athlete is the friendships she has made playing on the team and how much having her teammates cheer her own, especially in close matches, helped her throughout her time in the program. Alex says her favorite memory from tennis is winning the region championship after defeating Country Day last week. When asked what it means to be named AOTW, Alex said, “Being recognized as Athlete of the Week is a great way to end the season and my last year playing tennis for this school.”
Jack Floyd, Golf - Athletes of the Week April 18th - 24th
This week’s SCPS Athlete of the Week is Jack Floyd. Jack turned in impressive performances last week shooting a 78 and finishing in 3rd individually at the BC Invitational while also shooting a 39 in the final regular-season match against Southeast Bulloch and Bulloch Academy. Jack has been playing golf for 8 years and says his favorite memory was winning the Wildcat Invitational in 2020. Jack says his favorite thing about being a Raider is being able to represent the school and compete alongside his teammates and says his goal for the season is to qualify for the state tournament as a team. When asked what it means to be named AOTW, Jack said, “It’s an honor to be recognized as athlete of the week and I’m happy to be able to keep competing this year.”
