Cottis signs to play college golf at University of North Florida

Savannah Christian Prepararatory School senior Ava Cottis has signed a national letter of intent to play collegiate golf at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.

As a junior, Cottis helped Savannah Christian win its third consecutive Georgia High School Association Class AAA state golf championship. She finished second at the state tournament in Lafayette, Ga., losing in a playoff to teammate Mary Miller, who now plays for Georgia Southern University.

Cottis also won the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour's Carolina's Girls Classic in North Caroliana in May, and she finished T11 in the Girls 15-18 age group at the US Kids Golf World Teen Championship played July 25-27 in Pinehurst, N.C., and at the American Junior Golf Association Arnold Palmer Invitational played in July at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida.

The UNF women's golf program plays in the Atlantic Sun Conference and has won the conference tournament three times (2016, 2017, 2022) and appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2016, 2017, 2021 and 2022.
