The Frazier Hite Invitational cross country meet was hosted by Southeast Bulloch High School in Statesboro, Georgia, on September 1, 20022. With a time of 17:46 on a muddy course, Savannah Country Day senior John Ryan won his first race out of the gate. Ryan was a first-team 2021 selection by the Savannah Morning News All-Greater Savannah.

You may wonder why. Ryan won the Georgia High School Association Region 3-A Private meet (a season-best 16:33.88) and finished eighth in the GHSA Class A Private state event (17:09.89). A week later, at the Wingfoot Night of Champions, he placed 7th.

Overall last season Ryan won four regular-season meetings, a dual meet vesus Savannah Christian Prep, the Skidaway High Tide Race, SCPS Raider Cross Country Invitation, and the SCDS Hornet Invite.

Note: The SCDS girls placed third out of thirty participating teams at the Frazier Hite Invitational cross-country meet. Lady Hornets were led by seniors Sarah Jane Schulze who finished 5th overall in 23:10, and Anna Pollak, with a time of 24:43:00.
