Dollander finishes runner up at AJGA event

Savannah's Bear Dollander, a rising sophomore at Benedictine Military School, carded a final-round score of 5-under par 66 to finish runner up at the American Junior Golf Association's Vaughn Taylor Championship in Augusta, Ga., played at Bartram Trail Golf Club June 11-13.

Dollander carded scores of 70-69 to start the final round at 3-under par and T7. He made a birdie on the 18th hole for the second straight day to finish his final round and was the leader in the clubhouse at 8-under par before Michael Hall from Moultrie, Ga., made birdies on three of his final four holes to finish the tournament at 9-under par.

Earlier this spring, Dollander won the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's Brunswick Junior Classic played at Brunswick Country Club and finsihed T2 in the Georgia High School Association Class AAAA state championship played at Highland Country Club in LaGrange, Ga. The AJGA is considered the premier junior golf association in the world, as evidence by sponsor support from brands such as as TaylorMade Golf, Adidas Golf, Rolex, the PGA TOUR and United States Golf Association. The AJGA has conducted elite tournaments for junior golfers of both sexes since 1978, and the organization staged more than 200 events in 2023.
