The Prep Sports Report and Donatos Pizza Savannah proudly announce this week's Donatos Volleyball Co-Players of the Week award co-winners. Riley Stringer from South Effingham High School and Sophie Chu from St. Vincent's Academy both received recognition for their outstanding performances in last week's volleyball matches.

Riley Stringer

South Effingham High School - Volleyball

Riley, a 5'11" senior setter/right-side outside hitter for the Mustangs, helped South Effingham post a 4-0 week record against Tattnal County, Bryan County, Tift County, and Camden County. She finished the week with 25 kills, 25 aces (17 in one match), 12 digs, and 34 assists. South Effingham has won 11 out of 14 matches because of Riley's Senior leadership, according to South Effingham Head Volleyball Coach Haywood Ellison.

"Riley has been our primary setter, and we switched to running a 6-2 last week. It allows Riley to hit from the right side because she is also a strong hitter. Our offense runs through her as the setter. She sets the table for everyone else, and now she has the opportunity to add more to our offense and swing. She is our team captain and our floor captain." - Coach Ellison.

Sophie Chu

St. Vincent's Academy - Volleyball

Sophie, a 4'11" Libero for the Saints, had 17 digs, seven aces, and four assists in St. Vincent's wins over New Hampstead, Southeast Bulloch, Brantley County, and Woodville-Tompkins. During the season, Chu leads the Saints with 225 digs, 55 aces, and only four defensive errors. St. Vincent's Academy has won nine straight matches with only dropping 1 game.

"Sophie is a defensive player that will put it all on the line to get the ball up. She is small but mighty and willing to throw herself on the floor for a ball. She continues to impress us, and we are so excited for the rest of the season with her." - St.Vincent's Academy head Volleyball Coach Sarah Stewart.
