The University of North Georgia men's golf team, ranked #2 in the NCAA Southeast Region Division II men's golf poll, finished runner-up at the Peach Belt Conference Championship played April 21-23 at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.

Former Benedictine Military School golfer Hughes Threlkeld competed in the tournament for the Nighthawks, carding scores of 75-76-77 to finish T34 at 12-over par. Earlier this season, the sophomore was named Peach Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week after finishing T3 at Bobcat Invitational, shooting rounds of 69-69 to finish at 2-under par.

The Nighthawks led after the first round, dropped back to third after the second round and battled back to finish in second behind Georgia Southwestern University. The second-place finish is the highest finish at the conference tournament for North Georgia in program history, and the Nighthawks have finished in the top four in all 12 tournaments this season.

The Nighthawks will look to earn a third straight berth in the NCAA Championship Regional Qualifier. The tournament field will be announced by the NCAA national office on April 28.

It was a battle between two of NCAA Division II's best throughout the tournament as the fourth-ranked Nighthawks and seventh-ranked GSW carded their best rounds of the tournament in the final 18 holes.
