Savannah Christian Preparatory School (SCPS) senior cheerleaders Jadyn Singleton and Grace Stoever are moving on in the 2022-2023 Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association (GCCA) All-State Cheerleader of the Year competition. Both were chosen as top 30 finalists, and the teammates will compete for the cheerleader of the year at Columbus State on August 5, 2023.

The girls were nominated by their head coach at SCPS,  Charita Bowers, a member of the GCCA. Only GCCA members can nominate cheerleaders for this distinguished award. Cheerleaders had to submit two recommendations, an essay, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and have a 3.5 HOPE GPA to be nominated. 30 cheerleaders are selected for classes 1A-4A and 30 for divisions 5A-7A. The Raider cheerleaders have these credentials, as stated by Coach Bowers.

"Both girls are extremely well-rounded students that excel academically, athletically, and socially at SCPS," said Bowers. "Jayden has been cheering at SCPS since 6th grade. She is an All-star cheerleader with Savannah Sharks. Grace started cheering at SCPS in 9th grade and is an All-star cheerleader at Cheer Savannah."

According to Coach Bowers, both are excellent students with a 4.0 GPA and are involved in many community and school clubs at SCPS. The teammates were also members of the SCPS GHSA Class 3A State Champion Cheer team last year, and Jayden also was the GHSA Class 3A state champion in track and field's long jump event.

Next, the two Raiders will be among 60 finalists performing on August 5, 2023. The 60 girls are divided into two divisions, 1A-4A and 5A-7A. The SCPS duo will compete in the 1A-4A division. Jayden and Grace will perform in a stunt group performance, jumping, standing and running, tumbling, dancing, and solo cheers. Besides, the GCCA competition will interview all finalists.

Then the top 16 finalists from each division make the All-State cheerleading team. GCCA All-State players receive scholarships, patches, and medals. The GCCA selects a divisional cheerleader of the year from the All-State team selections.

"These girls are ready. We've been practicing since they found out in June," said Bowers. "They are ready to rock'n'roll, and the girls will represent Savannah Christian proudly."
