The skills and experiences gained from youth cheerleading to high school cheerleading can help cheerleaders leap to their dreams and succeed in the next level, college cheerleading. We saw seven local former cheerleaders take to the sidelines on Week 1 this past Saturday in college football. All seven are associated with Cheer Savannah and local high schools. As well as the former local football players, these athletes must also be recognized!

Peyton Smith from Richmond Hill High School, Madeline Nguyen from Calvary Day School, and Caroline Riggs from Bulloch Academy were between the hedges for the University of Georgia.

Two Savannah area cheerleaders were cheering at the Prettiest Little Stadium in America, coined by the legendary head football coach Erik Russell at Georgia Southern University. Becoming teammates at GSU were Callie Bland from Calvary Day School and Marissa Taylor from South Effingham.

Two local cheerleaders headed out of state to two South Carolina rival schools, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina. Cheering on the Clemson Tigers is Reese Ritchie from Savannah Country Day School. Cheering on the Gamecocks from Richmond High School was Laurel Bixler.

Young cheerleaders from youth teams and high school can look up to these former local seven cheerleaders for inspiration. These athletes have demonstrated that being a college cheerleader is attainable with hard work, effort, and dedication in cheerleading.

NOTE: If you know of any other college cheerleaders. Please send and email with thier name, former cheer gym, high school, and college to kdemasi@prepsportsreport.com
