Georgia 14U Long Course Championships: 3 Local Swimmers have a Gold Experience from GCATS, LCAC & SST Swim Clubs

The 2023 Georgia 14U Long Course Championships is a premier swimming competition for 14 and under swimmers in Georgia. The meet was hosted by Swim Atlanta at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia, from July 13-16, 2023. Three local swimmers made a splash bringing back more than one gold medal to Savannah Georgia.

Sara Stigall of the Low Country Aquatics Club (LCAC) won five events in the 9-10 girl’s age group: the 100 free (1:10.08), 100 breaststroke (1:33.39), 200 free (2:30.73), 200 individual medley (2:53.33) and the 400 free (5:19.43).

Sonny Shannon of the Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team (GCAT) won three events in the boy’s 11-12 age group: the 50 freestyle (27.57), 50 butterfly (29.38), and 200 free (2:12.61). Shannon also swam in five other races, 100 free (2nd Place), 400 free (4th Place), 100 fly (3rd Place), 100 backstroke (4th Place), and 50 back (11th).

Allie Pearson of Savannah Swim Team (SST) won two girls’ 11-12 age group events: the 50 free (27.69) and 100 free (1:02.43).

 

Other notes from the  2023 Georgia 14U Long Course Championship, the Low Country Aquatics Club took 1st Place in Division IV. The division is for small teams with 80 swimmers or less. GCAT Sonny Shannon, with his performance, earned a spot on the Georgia Zones championship team this year. Over 1000 swimmers and 50 teams were at this year's 14U Long Course Championships.
