Where are they now? From GCAT, St. Andrew's to Alabama - Gaby Van Brunt, Women's SEC Freshman of the Week

Gabby Van Brunt is making waves for Alabama's swim team and is the Women's Southern Eastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Week. Her career has gone from the Georgia Coastal Aquatics Team (GCAT), St. Andrew's School to the Universitry of Alabama . In a recent swim meet on January 12, 2024, Gabby scored 33 points in a SEC swim meet as Alabama took on Kentucky.

Van Brunt had an outstanding performance, with two individual victories and a relay win against the Wildcats. She achieved her personal best time in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.60, improving it by three-tenths of a second.

Gabby dominated the 100 butterfly; she won by six-tenths of a second with an impressive 53.29. In the 200 butterfly, Van Brunt captured the fastest time at 1:57.71, nearly two seconds ahead of the competition.

Van Brunt was part of the 200 medley Alabama relay team, where she contributed with a 23.47 butterfly split, the fastest in the event, securing a first-place finish for the team. Gabby also achieved a season-best time of 53.69 in the 100 backstroke, earning her a respectable fourth-place finish.

To finish out the meet, Gabby anchored the 400 freestyle relay, helping the team secure a third-place finish with an impressive time of 3:23.65. Gabby Van Brunt is still a stand-out swimmer from her days at GCAT and St. Andrew's. She is now on the collegiate level and you can expect more exceptional performances!
